December 2023 PeADD Board of Directors Meeting
The PeADD Board of Directors held the Annual Christmas Board Luncheon and Legislative Update at Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park on Monday, December 11, 2023. Board Chair, Ms. Crissy Carter, chaired the meeting which began at noon and welcomed everyone to the Clifty Creek Restaurant which was decorated with holiday charm.
Federal and state reports were provided by Field Representatives Ms. Whitney Meadows (Senator Rand Paul), Mr. Corey Elder (Congressman James Comer), Ms. Martha Jane King, (Department for Local Government).
A panel discussion moderated by Mr. Jason Vincent, PeADD Executive Director, with topics provided in part by the PeADD Executive Committee, including the outlook of the 2024 session of the KY General Assembly, transportation projects, Governor’s discretionary funds, distribution of coal and mineral funds, among others. Senator Whitney Westerfield (District 3) and Representatives Walker Thomas (District 8) Chris Freeland (District 6), Rebecca Raymer (District 15), and Wade Williams (District 4) took part in the discussion.
Dr. Brian Parr, Dean of the Hudson School of Agriculture at Murray State University provided a brief update on the proposed Veterinary School of Medicine at Murray State University. The PeADD Board unanimously passed a resolution in support of the school’s project.
Mr. Jason Vincent, PeADD Executive Director, thanked Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park for their hospitality and expressed his appreciation to the legislators for their continued support of the Area Development Districts.
On behalf of everyone at Pennyrile ADD, Mr. Vincent thanked Clifty Creek Restaurant staff for a delicious meal and wished everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
