Celebrating Residents' Rights Month
October is Residents’ Rights Month, a time designated by Consumer Voice to honor individuals living in long-term care facilities and those receiving care in their homes or communities. This annual event shines a spotlight on the dignity and rights of every person receiving long-term services and support.
Residents have the fundamental right to self-determination and to use their voices in making their own choices. This year's theme, The Power of My Voice, underscores the importance of self-empowerment and highlights the impact of residents advocating for their interests, personal growth, and the right to lead full, enriching lives.
In celebration of Residents' Rights Month, the Pennyrile District is hosting a Resident Forum. We invite you to join us as we celebrate the collective voices of nursing home residents. Hear firsthand as they take the stage to share their experiences and stories. We encourage you to challenge your own perspectives, open your mind, and perhaps even reshape the narrative of long-term care.
The Forum will take place at the Christian County Senior Center on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.
