Happy Grandparents Day

Sunday, September 10, 2023 is Grandparents Day and PeADD wants to say “THANK YOU” to all grandparents for the role you play in the lives of your grandchildren. Kentucky has one of the highest rates of grandparents raising grandchildren across the United States. When parents are absent or unable to raise their children, grandparents are often the ones who step in.

PeADD is working hard to support grandparents raising grandchildren and related individuals in the Pennyrile region. The Area Agency on Aging provides both the National Caregiver Program and the Kentucky Caregiver Program to help serve and support grandparents raising grandchildren. Grandparents are provided with connections to community resources, educational opportunities, monthly support group meetings, and needed supplemental items for their grandchildren, such as clothing, hygiene items and bedding.
