May 2021 PADD Board of Directors Meeting

Pennyrile Area Development District held their monthly Board of Directors meeting on Monday, May 10, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. (CT). Representatives of our congressional delegation provided updates from DC. KY State Representative Mary Beth Imes reported the General Assembly accomplished a lot in the 30 day session and KY State Representative Chris Freeland reported on increases in sales tax, rise in tourism, the start of the county budget process, and stated we are awaiting the release of regulations and guidelines on spending of American Rescue Plan (ARP) funds. Staff reports from Aging, Workforce and Community & Economic Development were provided.
Guest Speaker, Mr. Buddy Hoskinson, Executive Director, Kentucky Office of Unemployment Insurance, provided an update on activity related to the reopening of career centers, call center, work search requirement, unemployment insurance fraud, and SB7 that was signed into law in March reinstituting the waiver over-payment request & eligibility.
Mr. Jason Vincent, PeADD Executive Director, provided an update regarding audio/visual upgrades to the board room, PeADD operations, FY22 budget process, water & sewer funding, ARP funding, 2020 census results, KYCOVID19 vaccine dashboard and announced the next West Kentucky Coalition meeting will be held as an in-person meeting on June 24, 2021 at the Lyon County Convention Center. Mr. Vincent recognized PeADD employee, Ms. Cindy Tabor, Long Term Care Ombudsman, who is celebrating 10 years of service this month.
The June annual business meeting will be a conducted as a virtual meeting and we will be recognizing outgoing board members and voting on new board members. An in-person celebration event will be held in September.
