2018 Forgotten Angels

The Forgotten Angels Project will be gearing up again for its 12th year, serving residents in “Personal Care Homes”.  Residents in PCH’s are usually younger and sometimes suffer with mental illness rather than physical limitations.  We focus on this group of residents because they seem to be most forgotten by friends, family and society.  Even more despairing is that these residents are only allowed $60.00 a month personal spending money.

You may be asking “How does this work?” This year we are asking residents for only one wish, $25.00 and under.  The Forgotten Angel is then placed on the tree anonymously.  People from the community come to the PADD office and obtain a Forgotten Angel (or several) off the tree.  Later they return with a Christmas bag stuffed full with the residents wish and other stocking stuffers.

The Stocking Stuffer list has changed (see the back of this letter).  We are doing away with most of the personal hygiene items and are asking instead for any sort of SNACKS or board games / activities.  Stocking Stuffers are generally all sorts of snacks, games, stationary and socks / gloves.  Many people load a large Christmas bag full of these extra goodies along with the personal item requested and return it to the PADD office where all the gifts are bagged by PADD staff and volunteers.  Some people choose to bring in donations from the list or make monetary donations. We ask that all gifts be returned, unwrapped, to the PADD office, no later than Thursday, December 13th, 2018.

As the holiday season approaches, we hope that you will help us provide a touch of joy to those in need.  It is truly amazing to see how our community gets involved in giving so much to these Forgotten Angels.  Each year as the donations begin to pour in, I remain stunned at your generosity.  I’m very proud to be a part of this community and look forward to serving our Forgotten Angels in 2018 with your help.
