Centenarian Celebration
The Pennyrile Area Development District/Area Agency on Aging hosted an event this afternoon to “Celebrate Centenarians”. The event was coordinated in recognition of Older Americans Month. A reception was held at the Pennyrile Area Development District Offices in Hopkinsville.
Those recognized during the reception included Centenarians from across the Pennyrile counties. A total of 45 individuals were recognized. The oldest honoree present was 106 years old.
Legislative Citations were presented to the Centenarians. Judge Tim Feeley, Deputy Secretary, Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services was the guest speaker of the day. Presentations were also made by Senator Whitney Westerfield, Representative Melinda Prunty, Representative Lynn Bechler and Representative Walker Thomas. Christian County Historian William Turner also addressed the group.
Sandy Simpson and Amelia Wilson from Congressman James Comer’s office also made special presentations.
