Public Comment for CEDS Update
Public Comment Invited on Draft Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy Update
The Pennyrile Area Development District (PeADD) is seeking public comment on its draft update to the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) for the Pennyrile region.
A CEDS is developed through a locally based planning process that helps guide the economic growth and development of a region. The strategy provides a framework for identifying regional priorities, addressing economic challenges, building on existing strengths, and coordinating efforts to create jobs, encourage a stable and diversified economy, and improve quality of life.
The CEDS also serves as an important tool for bringing together local governments, economic development organizations, community partners, businesses, and other stakeholders around shared goals for the region.
In addition to supporting regional planning and collaboration, an approved CEDS is required for certain assistance through the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA), including its public works, economic adjustment, and planning programs. A CEDS is also a prerequisite for designation as an Economic Development District by EDA.
