Residents’ Rights Month Forum

October is Residents’ Rights Month, a time to recognize the rights, dignity, and quality of life of individuals living in long-term care communities. In celebration, the Pennyrile District Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program will host a Residents’ Rights Forum on Friday, October 23, 2026, at the Pennyrile Area Development District, 300 Hammond Drive in Hopkinsville.

The forum will be held from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., with doors opening at 9:30 a.m. The event will include information about residents’ rights, remarks from state leaders, a proclamation, and a question-and-answer discussion providing residents an opportunity to share their perspectives.

The 2026 Residents’ Rights Month theme, “Join Us at the Table,” highlights the important role food, mealtimes, and community play in the daily lives, culture, and dignity of long-term care residents. The theme encourages residents, families, advocates, and long-term care professionals to come together to ensure residents’ voices and choices remain at the center of their care.

Residents’ Rights Month is an opportunity to celebrate and empower residents while raising awareness about the importance of honoring their individual preferences, choices, and rights.
