Open Records Act: Purpose and Construction , General Requirements, duties in Responding to Open Records Requests, Copying costs Formatting Statutory, Exceptions to the Right of Inspection, Legal Challenges, Role of the Attorney General.
Open Meetings Act: Purpose and Construction, General Requirements, Duties in Responding to Open Meetings Complaints, Statutory Exceptions Authorizing, and Requirement for, Closed Sessions, Regular and Special Meetings/Video Teleconferencing, Legal Challenges, Role of the Attorney General.
Lunch “on your own”: 12:00—1:00 p.m. CDT (Restaurant list will be provided)
Records Management: 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. CDT
Basic principles of managing public records, Use of retention schedules, Destruction of obsolete records. Electronic Records: Maintaining & Preserving Electronic Records, Management E-Mail Records
Who Should Attend
City and County Officials, Public Agency Employees or Representatives, Attorneys Representing State or Local Government Agencies, SPGE’s, Education Administrators
Training Credit approved through the KY County Officials Training Program (DLG), KY City Officials Training Center (KLC) and Kentucky Bar Association (KBA) for Government Attorneys and Kentucky Department of Revenue for Property Valuation Administrators.
