Cert Instructors Trained

Ten people were certified as CERT instructors in training December 19th: Susan Tomlinson, Jim Tomlinson, Dorothy Byerly, Paul Thomasson, Michael Thomasson, Randy Wade, David Hazelmyer, Greg Bridgeman, Deanna Staples and Bryant Garibay.  They will be providing training throughout the region in the coming months - we welcome their participation!

Weather Spotter Concepts 1 & 2
30 March, 6:00 - 9:00 PM, Princeton, Kentucky
- The Caldwell County Weather Spotters, HAM Radio, Citizen Corps and Emergency Management is presenting Weather Spotter Concepts 1 & 2 at the Caldwell County Ambulance/EMS Building. 102 Northfield Drive in Princeton.  The class will feature may weather pictures and video as well as information on how be become a well in formed spotter.  All course materials are free.  Contact Jim Harmon at 449-4262 or Raymond Giannini at (270) 365-3787 for more information. 

 
NIMS ICS 400 Class
6-7 May, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Dale Wayrynen Recreation Center, Desert Storm Avenue, Fort Campbell, Kentucky - 
All Federal/State/Local/Tribal/Private Sector & Nongovernmental personnel should take ICS-400, including:  Persons who will serve as command or general staff in an ICS organization, select department heads with multi-agency coordination system responsibilities, area commanders, emergency managers, and multi-agency coordination system/emergency operations center managers.
Training developed and conducted by State and Tribal entities as well as private training vendors at the ICS-400 level must include at a minimum, the following topical areas:

  • Command and General Staff
  • Deputies and assistants
  • Unified command
  • Organizational relationships between Area Command, Unified Command, Multi Entity Coordination Systems, and Emergency Operations centers (EOCs)

G191 Incident Command System/Emergency Operations Center Interface Class
15-16 July, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Dale Wayrynen Recreation Center, Desert Storm Avenue, Fort Campbell, Kentucky - 
This course provides an opportunity for participants to begin developing an ICS/EOC interface for their community.  The course reviews ICS and EOC responsibilities and functions and depends heavily on exercises and group discussions to formulate the interface.  A recommended prerequisite is the successful completion of Introduction to ICS (ICS-100) for Federal Disaster Workers.

National Response Framework Resource Center - This page provides guidance on the latest evolution in the nation's response to catastrophic events.  Links include Information and Documents, References, Annex Documentation, and Training Resources. 

FEMA's Emergency Management Institute - This page provides a comprehensive list of training and education resources available from FEMA's Emergency Management Institute (EMI). These resources are primarily targeted towards emergency management officials. EMI offers the mandatory National Incident Management System (NIMS) training, Incident Command System (ICS), National Response Plan (NRP), Disaster Basics, Continuity of Operations (COOP), and several other disaster preparedness courses. Members of the general public can benefit from some of the Independent Study(IS) courses offered through EMI.  We are constantly adding new IS courses so independent study users should always use the IS Course List webpage as their starting point to take any IS course.

FEMA Library - The FEMA Library is a searchable web-based collection of all publicly accessible FEMA information resources, including: CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes, audio tapes, disability resources, posters and display items, brochures, publications, guidance and policy papers, program regulations and guidelines, forms, slide presentations, and some documents.

Homeland Responder Training Network
- Homeland Responder is a web based video information network that delivers real stories and lessons of preparedness, response and recovery to the Nation's citizen emergency services sector. Our goal is to provide responders with a unique training portal that addresses current preparedness and response issues while answering their questions and providing them insights into lessons learned. To help provide America's response community with a baseline understanding of the training necessary to effectively and safely respond to manmade or natural disasters.

TRAIN Kentucky - The premier learning resource for professionals who protect the public's health. A free service of the Public Health Foundation, www.train.org is part of the newly expanded TrainingFinder Real-time Affiliate Integrated Network (TRAIN).

St. Petersburg College National Terrorism Preparedness Institute - Our courses use the latest in instructional technology and the most current information and procedures in emergency response to terrorism. We provide conventional classes with hands on components, distance learning via the Department of Homeland Security Federal Emergency Management Agency (DHS-FEMA) Preparedness Network (PREPnet), and distance learning broadcasts via satellite.

Radiation Event Medical Management - REMM was produced by the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response, Office of Planning and Emergency Operations, in cooperation with the National Library of Medicine, Division of Specialized Information Services, with subject matter experts from the National Cancer Institute, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and many US and international consultants.  The goals of the website are:  Provide guidance for health care providers, primarily physicians, about clinical diagnosis and treatment during mass casualty radiological/nuclear (rad/nuc) events; Provide just-in-time, evidence-based, usable information with sufficient background and context to make complex issues understandable to those without formal radiation medicine expertise; Provide web-based information that is also downloadable in advance, so that it would be available during an event if the internet is not accessible.

Warren County Rescue Squad - Excellent website with great information and links for information or training purposes.  From their site, "The Warren County Rescue Department is an all volunteer agency that dates back to the 1960s. Over the years the department has changed with time, however the mission goal has remained the same; to provide general and specialized rescue services as defined by KRS 39F.  The services provided by Warren County Rescue include, but not limited to, Search&Rescue, Water Recovery/Rescue, Cave Rescue, and High/Low Angle Rescue. The Warren County Rescue Department offers the citizens of Warren County, as well as the citizens of The Commonwealth of Kentucky, a group of highly dedicated, motivated, and trained individuals who have share the same objective. Saving lives."
