Local youth programs are funded through the West Kentucky Workforce Investment Board (WKWIB): to (1) provide an objective assessment of each eligible youth participant; (2) develop an individual service strategy for each eligible youth; and (3) provide preparation for postsecondary educational opportunities, linkages between academic and occupational learning, preparation for employment, and helps provide connections to intermediary organizations that provide strong links to the job market and employers.

Services that can be made available to eligible youth in the WKWIB (low income individual, 16-21 year old, who possesses a barrier to employment) through Workforce Investment programs or referrals to other agencies include:
- Tutoring
- Alternative secondary school
- Summer employment opportunities directly linked to academic & occupational learning and career interests
- Paid & unpaid work experiences, Job shadowing
- Occupational skill training
- Leadership Development opportunities
- Supportive services
- Adult mentoring
- Follow-up services for up to one year
- Guidance and counseling
There are several assessment and program activities you will be involved in, focusing on four key areas: (1) Educational Achievement, (2) Work Experience / Work Readiness Activities, (3) Developing as a Citizen and Leader and (4) Additional Support.
