Community Collaboration for Children
Community Collaboration for Children is a state initiative for Family Preservation and Support Services which provides federal funds to state child welfare agencies for preventive services (family support services) and services to families at risk or in crisis (family preservation services.)
To assist in the development and implementation of the Title IV-B Plan, the Pennyrile Area Development District provides staff support for the District Planning Committee and assists in the preparation and evaluation of the five-year strategic plan.
Funding levels are determined by a formula utilizing the number of families at or below poverty level in each area development district. District allocations consist of 75% federal monies and a 25% local match. The Pennryile Community Collaboration for Children provided allocations to the Pennyrile Family Preservation Program and the Pennyroyal IMPACT Program, and provides funds for preventive therapy through the Family Enrichment Program. Funds are also provided for subsidized child care. |

Amber Alert
America's Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response
In the Fall of 2001 the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) launched the AMBER Plan - America's Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response nationwide.

The goal of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children is to assist cities and towns across the United States with creating their own emergency alert plan.
A Kentucky Success Story: On July 31, 2003, Kentucky's Amber Alert system was utilized for the first time and resulted in the immediate capture of two suspects accused of abducting a Shelbyville, Kentucky teenager. State troopers learned about the Amber Alert on their police radios via the Kentucky Emergency Warning System (KEWS) communications network. |
